“The harvest is great, but the laborers are few.”
Dear friends, as we see harvest season unfolding in the fields around us, we are also mindful of a different kind of harvest that is happening all the time, a harvest of souls. Our Lord plants seeds of grace, and then brings forth new life among his people, life that will last into eternity. But those seeds must be cultivated, so we must ask the harvest master, God, to send out laborers who will care for the seedlings of grace that he has planted.
We are grateful to our Lord that sixteen men are currently attending the seminary in formation for the priesthood in the Diocese of Fargo, men who one day will hopefully serve as our parish priests. Please pray for these men as they enter into another year of prayer and study in preparation for priestly ministry. Their journey is long and challenging, so we must ask Jesus, the High Priest, to sustain them on their way. And let us pray that he will call others as well, men who will hear his voice and say yes to the same invitation he gave to Peter: “Come, follow me.”
God bless you,
- Bishop John T. Folda, Bishop of Fargo
